Green Cherry Turning 14” x 5”
Turning “green” or unseasoned wood is a technique that involves using a recently felled tree that has not been dried. This allows for a dialogue between the maker and the tree that the blank came from, depending on where in the tree the blank was harvested dictates how the wood will warp as it slowly dries. This piece was taken from the heart of the tree perpendicular to the ground so it warped in an undulatory manner depending on how close to the center of tree it was.
