A manifestation of "Slow Design," the term is meant to express both a thought process and a style of operation. This project truly reflects my experience with candles, slowing down the thought process behind them and highlighting what I find fascinating about them. For me, it's always the wax drippings that capture my attention. Watching the phase change happen right in front of you and being able to feel it as it occurs is one of the special things about wax. I recall being reprimanded by my parents for peeling off the wax and roasting it in the candle or dumping it into the liquid wax and watching it melt again.

My initial investigation focused on how to propagate a candle. During my search, I frequently found myself playing with the wax and decided to embrace that aspect. I embarked on designing a candle holder that would encourage this playful interaction. I settled on a cascading form reminiscent of classical Gothic candle holders, simplified. The upper candle flows down the leaf to create long dripping wax stalagmites that are just too easy to snap off and roast over the second leaf, which collects all the drippings.
